Choosing the right spot

All you need is flat space 7ft x 7ft (2m x 2m).
The Swedish Hot Tub takes approx. 1.6 cubic meters of water so the combined weight is almost 2 tons when full. Please bear this in mind when choosing the spot. Do not be afraid of the gaze of curious neighbors. If you need additional privacy we can offer a handsome purpose-made matching screen.

Access

Access required is approx. 1 m wide and 2 m high.
It is not essential that there should be vehicle access to the precise spot, but it would be helpful if we can park as close as possible. If you are uncertain about this aspect we are happy to come to have a look at the place. This inspection visit will be free if within radius of 20 miles from Cambridge.

Filling with water

The tub should be within 60 meters of the water supply.
We will bring the hose pipe connection. Fillings takes approx. 1,5 - 4 hour. While this is taking place we will guide you through the Health & Safely aspects.

The Fire

When the Tub is full,it is the time for lighting the fire.
Swedish style hot tubs are fuelled with dry wood - other fuels are strictly not allowed.
They are 3–4 bags of dry logs required for a session, depended on the outdoor temperature.
To allow you to focus on your party arrangements, we  supply wood you will need for a whole booking, cut to the ideal size for use in a swedish style wooden hot tub.

Temperature of the water

The ideal temperature for outdoor bathing is 36 - 38°C.
The time to reach the desired temperature varies on the outdoor conditions. In the Summer, heating to 38°C takes around 3 hours. In Winter, it takes around 5-6 hours. It is essential the Hot Tub is covered by an insulating cover which we will supply. We recommend stirring the water occasionally to maintain even heating. For that purpose we supply a paddle.

After bathing

The temperature in the tub decreases very slowly
so if you have a booking for more than one day, re-heat will be faster.
Please bear in mind the antibacterial properties of Western red cedar wood and active oxigen added make it possible to re-use the water if you are comfortable with the idea. If you decide to empty and re-fill, wait until the fire in the fire box is completely extinguished and cold.
After your final bathing session leave the emptying of water for us to deal with on collection.
